"Desolate"  Watercolor

Not a reflection on how I'm feeling...just an observation about the current landscape.  However, I find this image very peaceful because of the lack of activity...just ice and snow which is so lovely when it is fresh and unspoiled.

With the dreadful weather we're having, I thought another diversion might be appreciated.  While going through his files today, my husband, Bill, found this photograph that he took of our dog, Winston, a couple of years ago while we were hiking in Allardale Park (Oops!  Don't tell anyone he's off lead.).  Winston is going on 15 years old, and his gentle nature is apparent in this photo. It's that time of year

"Lake effect snow..." is a commonly heard phrase in the Northeast Ohio area, and that's what we are experiencing today!  So, I thought maybe I would take a little break from all this messy weather, a "vacation" as it were.  The painting below was completed in a workshop I attended a couple of years ago.  I think it is an appropriate escape from all the white stuff.  A promise of things to come.

Flexible Flyer

As a family sits watching TV, relaxing and sipping from mugs of hot chocolate in their cozy living room, the children are daydreaming about the fun they had earlier in the day, giggling, rolling in the snow, and zipping down powder-covered hills on their new Flexible Flyer sled.

Looking out the window...

As I looked out the window earlier today, I was struck by the beauty of the gently falling snow.  Although I'm not a cold weather fan, I always look forward to the change of seasons and spending cold snowy evenings curled up in a blanket with a good book.  One of winter's blessings.  Another way we have been taking advantage of the cold weather is by redoing our basement - AKA, my studio - and are just about finished.  As soon as everything is in place, I'll post some photos.  But, for today, I'm going to post an appropriate seasonal painting.  Snuggle up and enjoy!
