Encaustic paintings (wax) are so much fun to create. When I do these, I love the feeling of depth that I can achieve. They are sort of like clouds...it's easy to "see things" within. Although they are small images, they attract attention because they are colorful and interesting.
My goal here is to work bigger and more loosely, more abstractly. At this point, I'm nearing the finish line, but have some decisions to make. The left side of the large crock needs to be darkened, and although I want that one to be extending off the bottom of the canvas, I'm debating about delineating the bottom of the narrower cylinder. This piece began as, and was intended to be a pure abstract but, during the process I began to see it as a floral and decided to go with it. Because I don't usually work this large, and am not totally comfortable with it, this has been a challenge.
