Nothing stays the same...

"Tuesday Evening"  Oil
Last summer I began painting with oils...a new venture for me and I loved it.  I'm fortunate to paint regularly with a very neat group of painters who are so talented, and they inspire me to try to reach beyond myself.  Always supportive and encouraging (and willing to provide honest feedback) they have been instrumental in my growth as an artist.   Everyone should be so lucky!  Thanks gang!  I've posted one of my early oil paintings above that was done one evening at a local park while fighting off mosquitos and onlookers.

"Nobody's Home" - Watercolor  (Sold)
What is the message...what do I want to say with my paintings?  This is an ongoing question for me and one that I struggle to keep in focus when I'm painting.  I sometimes get carried away by the act of painting, the physicality of it, and forget my ultimate goal.   This painting was a gift for my nephew.  He had asked me to do a painting for him, and waited patiently for several years while I dithered.  I finally painted this rather abstract rendering of a location where he spent time as a  youth.  When I look at it, I visualize him as a small child...lots of memories.

A new adventure!

"Floral Pathway" - Acrylic  (Sold)
Well, I've finally decided to take the plunge and start my own blog.  My objective is to share my art and my thoughts about art and what inspires me.  Because painting is core to me, I love to share with others and encourage new artists to hang in there, it's worth it!
