Pondering...

"Nobody's Home" - Watercolor  (Sold)

What is the message...what do I want to say with my paintings?  This is an ongoing question for me and one that I struggle to keep in focus when I'm painting.  I sometimes get carried away by the act of painting, the physicality of it, and forget my ultimate goal.   This painting was a gift for my nephew.  He had asked me to do a painting for him, and waited patiently for several years while I dithered.  I finally painted this rather abstract rendering of a location where he spent time as a  youth.  When I look at it, I visualize him as a small child...lots of memories.
