Playing around with soft pastel

"Afternoon Delight"  soft pastel

This painting was begun at one of our recent painting sessions and I promised to post the finished piece.  Inspired by the photo of an artist friend, I blocked in areas of color and then developed the painting at home without a photo reference.  This allowed me the freedom to express the scene as I wished, without regard for being "accurate."  This is the scene as I visualize it in my mind's eye.
