| "Subdued Spontaneity" Encaustic |
If you are looking for a jump-start for encaustic painting, I highly recommend "The Encaustic Art Project Book" by Michael Bossom, and "Encaustic Workshop" by Patricia Baldwin Seggebruch. The above painting was headed for the dumpster until I gained inspiration from these books. I just
love the texture.
Encaustics always seem to have such a deep and rich look and feel. The title "Subdued Spontaneity" really fits with the milky way white wanting to spill and the ambitious gold wanting to leap off the canvas yet both being held back by an authoritative restfulness.
